Why is my SVG, EPS, or PDF file not displaying correctly?

Last updated on 25 Aug 2022

How vector graphics display in Sketch depends a lot on how they were created. There are many different tools and a lot of techniques and effects that you can use, resulting in unlimited ways for creating vector graphics. Thus, some of these effects or techniques may not be fully supported in Sketch and, as a result, the imported file may not look as expected when you import it.

If this is the case, there are two things you can try:

  1. Flatten the file you want to import. Flat files usually import without issue. The downside is that you won’t be able to edit the graphic in Sketch.
  2. If possible, use SVG files. This format performs better than EPS or PDF; if you can create the SVG format try using it and importing it into Sketch.

If the problem persists after trying these solutions we’d appreciate if you could share it with us. We’ll analyze what may be causing the incompatibility and fix it in a future release. Please use our customer support form to send us your files.
